Matthew 2:1-11
The wise men saw that The STAR represented at least three things:
1 This star represented - Hope. And without (Jesus) the star of Christmas...there isn’t any hope!
II Thessalonians 2:16-17 says, “Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope,
17 comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say.”
Jesus gives us hope for all eternity, and that's an AMAZING gift!
2. I believe this star represented - Joy.
The Bible says, “When they saw the star, they were filled with joy.”
And that joy was expressed by worship & the giving of gifts...
3. This star represented – Guidance.
Jesus Christ is heaven's answer to the earth’s dilemma! Mankind was lost and the birth of the newborn king gave the wise men direction!!!
Matthew 2:12 says, “When it was time to leave, they returned to their own country by another route (or way), for God had warned them in a dream not to return to Herod.
And we need to understand (like the wise men) that it's impossible to meet Jesus Christ and go home the same way!
II Corinthians 5:17 says, “...anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
You see – it’s not enough to put a star on our trees this Christmas. That’s not going to lead you or anyone to Jesus.
Putting lights and decorations on a fir tree is nice... but that’s all superficial.
It’s only when we realize that the Star of Christmas represents hope, joy, and guidance that God begins to show thru.
Because like the wise men...you found Jesus...the king...
