Pastor Rob's Notes
Philippians 4:8
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
1... I choose to do biblically correct thinking about myself!!!
In John 17:17 Jesus prays to His Father, "Your Word is truth." Psalm 19:9 is talking about the Word of God when it says,
"The laws of the Lord are true."
Psalm 119:151 says, “All your Commands are true."
2... I choose to do Biblically correct thinking about others!!!
I Corinthians 4:5 says,
Don’t make judgments about anyone ahead of time—before the Lord returns. For he will bring our darkest secrets to light and will reveal our private motives. Then God will give to each one whatever praise is due.
3... I choose to do biblically correct thinking about my circumstances!!!
John 16:33
I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.
I want to remind you that peace comes when we are "in Christ." Jesus said, "You may have peace in me." And Jesus is stressing the location of peace. It is in himself!
He doesn’t say that peace is in religion. He doesn’t say that peace is in a job, in a location, or in some human relationship. He doesn’t even say that peace is in financial security. He says that it’s in himself.
True peace can only be found in Jesus! That's why He’s called the Prince of Peace!
I love that bumper sticker that says...
No Christ. No peace.
Know Christ. Know peace.
